The 2018/19 1st trimester status review of the National Renewable Energy Framework (NREF) assesses the progress made toward expanding renewable energy access in Nepal through collaborative efforts between the Government of Nepal, development partners, and private sector stakeholders. The review reports significant strides in stakeholder alignment, engagement with local and provincial governments, and efforts to develop municipal energy plans whereas the framework emphasizes shifting from a subsidy-based to a credit-based model, enhancing gender-responsive energy access, and fostering innovation in renewable energy technologies and business models.
